~ Little Naomi ~ Sneak Peek!

I had the privilege of photographing little Naomi the other day. What a fun session! Tabita and I tried our hardest to get Naomi to open her little eyes, but she just wanted to sleep! After an hour and a half of persuading Naomi, she finally opened her eyes!

My last three babies sessions were all the same - baby is happy, Caitlin arrives, child begins to wail and ear piercing screams soon follow. Caitlin, not worried, waits patiently for cute infant to regain composure and begins to decide where she wants the baby. By this time both Mother and Father are embarrassed and are still trying to calm the crying baby. Caitlin laughs inwardly while showing compassion for the parents, but really wants to laugh aloud, but instead she keeps it to herself and begins to calm the child's parents and assure them that this happens all the time. After awhile, the infant wearily falls asleep and the session begins!
I am not complaining at all! I just think it's funny, but I do feel bad for the stressed out mothers! =)

Wow! It's been a long time since I've posted on here! Well, I don't really have much to write about. I'm sure you read my sisters' xangas and saw that I have a new niece! I took a few pictures of her (okay, about a billion!). I will share a few with you.

One of my favorites!

She wasn't even a month old here.

I still have to take her pictures in her little bedroom - it's all pink! I can't wait!

I'm still working at the farm; right now I am filling out applications for farmers markets and working on the new website for the farm. Look for it soon, we're nearly done. =)
I will get to help plant in a few weeks (if I'm not too busy in the office)! I am so excited for Spring and warm weather. We've had a few days in the 30's and one in the 40's! We are still getting snow, but at least we had warmer temperatures, it is going to get cold again, so I am very thankful for the warm days!
You can expect another post soon! I want to introduce you to Henry!

Twelve Days of Christmas...

I am taking the Twelve Days of Christmas Photo Challenge and thought I'd share the pictures here. I have to take pictures of the twelve days of Christmas. Since it would be really hard to get a picture of a partridge in a pear tree, the instructors took artistic license with just a few things. So without further ado The Twelve Days of Christmas:

Day 1: Christmas Tree

Christmas trees are definitely a Christmas favorite of mine, so this was a fun image to create.And also my first time really using my filter. I really had to get creative with this one. Not having a tripod was a little difficult, but with a stool and two Christmas gifts for the right angle... viola!

Day 2: Presents & Packages

I was going to shoot the presents under our Christmas tree, but then decided that my niece, God's special gift, is better than all of the packages under our tree. It's a great reminder of the reason we celebrate Christmas.

These are the delicious cookies my sister made for a Mom's Meeting at our house tonight. I wasn't feeling creative and decided that I was not going to take the challenge, but my mom and sisters encouraged me to anyway. With their help I was able to have it uploaded at 11:57.

As my brother lies beneath the tree, one can only wonder what he is thinking.

This one was a fun one image to create. Both Benjamin and I were lying on the floor, except he wasn't battling branches with his hair. :) His difficulty was trying to keep still for 4 seconds.

Day 5: Glittery & Gold

Since the "Five Golden Rings" in the song represent the Pentateuch, I really wanted to incorporate it into the picture.

The picture frame represents Genesis: the framework of the Bible. The ribbon is Exodus: showing the journey of the Israelites. My ruby ring shows the purity God requires from us in Leviticus. Since there are two earrings, they represent Numbers. Deuteronomy is the heart: our love for God.

Although I never use a flash, I did use my speedlite to make the gold really shine.

My niece was getting sleepy, so I thought it would be a perfect time for a picture by the wood stove (we heat our house with wood). In the morning, you can always see all of us warming up in front of the stove! It's a favorite place in our home.

A cup of hot chocolate is much welcomed during the winter months here in our house!

I do have to confess that there is no hot chocolate in the cup. I just returned home and didn't have time to make some. My mom helped out and put a small cup under the whip cream in place of the hot chocolate!

I stole a sprig of berries from our Christmas tree with a small bow of raffia and used the underside of wrapping paper for the background. Once again, I used my speedlite and love it!

This was my great-great-grandmother's nativity scene. Heads have fallen off and pieces chipped over the years, but we still have it out.

Music. I love music, so I was expecting this one to be easy, but found it difficult to capture music without sound. It took me awhile to think of what I wanted to do, but I finally decided to use a few of our instruments.

If anyone is looking for a cheap background, I have discovered that the underside of wrapping paper works great, especially if you use a speedlite!

The manger reminds us of Christ’s coming and the cross His ascension. Throughout the Christmas season we celebrate Christ’s birthday, but let us not forget the reason He came. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son . . .” (John 3:16).

~ Luka... again ~

I've been waiting to post the rest of the pictures of Luka because I didn't have my watermark on the wedding pictures and I wanted to post those first. But I have made up my mind and have come to the conclusion that I am going to post whatever, whenever. I always post in chronological order, but things are about to change! So without further explanations, here are some of the highlights from my time with Luka....

Last week I photographed the cutest baby! His name is Luka. He is only two months old, yet he can sit fairly well against a chair. Nearly the entire time I photographed him he kept his eyes on my camera. His parents were amazing and let me try anything I wanted with Him. The result: fun times and great pictures!

I know you are waiting for the wedding pictures, but I can't resist, Luka is just too cute! Here is a picture from our time together.

Last month I had an incredible opportunity to teach for a week in Tennessee! I helped with a girls program (Pre-EXCEL) during the ATI Nashville Conference. I found out four days before the conference that I was going to teach! They were short on teachers and even accepted my older sister to come and help teach. That's big! In order to teach Pre-EXCEL you need to go to EXCEL. Dana hasn't gone to EXCEL, but was accepted anyway! They said she was the first girl they've ever accepted that hasn't gone through EXCEL! Pretty neat!!!

As I was helping my sister with her garage sale, I was taking a few pictures (of course!), when her neighbor came over. Well, we started talking and it was decided that I was going to take a picture of her daughter for a frame she just bought. We were having so much fun that I took a bit more than I thought I was going to! Here are a few of my favorites:

This rabbit knew I was photographing it! Look at its smile, notice the picture above? It jumped onto MacKenzie's back and just sat there posing!

If MacKenzie could do anything in the whole world, she would choose to ride a horse....

Last week I had the privilege of shooting this sweet little baby and her siblings. She was only four days old! I don't have them all finished yet, but here are three pictures from our time together. The first picture I shot while holding her; it's the first picture I took of her and her first look at my camera!

In March, I went downtown with Liz. We took the train and had a marvelous time!

Sometimes the train ride can get long, so to pass the time, I drew on the girls fingers. Liz was so happy about that!

I thought this was the neatest thing, I never saw one quite like this before, it's a round parking garage.

They were deciding where we should go. We were going to go to the museum, but that didn't work out, so we just walked around in the beautiful sunshine (!!!) and enjoyed the warm weather. Notice the boys have their sleeves pushed up! Soon after this picture was taken, all the coats and jackets came off!

It's a good thing they have that "Road Closed" sign! I'm sure someone would've tried to drive straight up the drawbridge!

A tall farming couple in the middle of the city. Do they even have names?

This is the worlds largest working cell phone. I can't believe that no one is in front of the phone! I shot this from my hip as we were walking, hence the blurriness, but I still am in shock that no one is in the way, there were a ton of people!

In the mall there was this cute little area with four leather chairs and a couch. We sat for awhile and enjoyed our lunch here.

Liz needed to get my sunglasses out of my hair, the nose piece tangled up when I put them on my head. Liz said that there was no way in the world I could've gotten them off alone!
